Paris: 10th European e-Accessibility Forum

People with disabilities and the elderly still face a number of challenges to using digital products and services. The rapid development of the “Internet of Things” should help to remedy this situation as specialised and contextualised services become available to the user when and where they are needed. This premise will be developed and discussed at the 10th European e-Accessibility Forum which will be held on the 30th May 2016 at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris.

IoTe-Accessibility in a Connected World

250 participants from around the world are expected to attend the event which will include conference sessions, workshops, a trade exhibition and networking opportunities.

This 10th edition is organised under the high patronage of François Hollande, President of the French Republic and under the patronage of Ségolène Neuville, Deputy Minister for People with Disabilities, and Axelle Lemaire, Deputy Minister for Digital Affairs.

The Forum will bring together key stakeholders from a variety of sectors working on ITC, accessibility, disabilities, health and Silver economy. Companies producing innovative and accessible IoT solutions will be invited to present their work and solutions.

  • The importance of IoT to the social ans economic development
  • The role of businesses and public services to the contribution to the IoT
  • The potential of the IoT to bridge the digital divide
  • Synergies between e-Accessibility stakeholders and industry
  • The importance of security and privacy matthers, in order to install trust among disabled and elderly users.
  • Practical examples of how the IoT can and will improve the lives of disabled and elderly people

This event is organised by BrailleNet in partnership with the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie. BrailleNet is a French non-profit e-Accessibility organisation with over 15 years’ experience in the field. This year’s European e-Accessibility Forum is part of the e-Accessibility Tour de France which includes a total of 12 events organised by BrailleNet in order to raise awareness on e-Accessibility around the country.
